Back from my working break and looking forward to getting back connecting with all my classes whether it be face-to-face or online.
I returned with Self-Care Saturday, and the first session was about Acceptance — accepting of where we are and whether or not we want to change.
The thing is — nothing changes unless we take some action. So asking the question of ourselves as to whether we are ready to accept, and ready to take action is the first step.
We can apply this to our emotional self, but also to our physical self. I have had a couple of the JTP family mention to me that they have missed classes and as a result various little niggles are reappearing in the body. Of course then returning to a Pilates class reminds them of what is needed to keep those niggles at bay.
Taking action by doing your Pilates will then make the change needed and then the feedback is not only physical — less aches and pains, moving more freely — but also emotional — feeling better about yourself, feeling pleased and accomplished because you have done some exercise.
But its the all important taking action that makes the difference, making a commitment to yourself that I feel better when I am doing regular Pilates.
Acceptance and taking action, the first steps towards making things change.
What's Occurring? — New Things...
Lots of people struggle to do Pilates because of various issues that prevent them from being in certain positions, and when this happens they feel they can’t fully participate, so one of my missions has always been to make my classes all-inclusive.
Adaptations and alternatives are always at the forefront of my mind when I am planning classes. With this in mind I recorded a short tutorial on how to do some of the movements from a chair … this is now available on the members jtp.zone website. This shows what to
do if you cannot stand, kneel, be prone, or lie on your side … and while I haven’t covered all 34 Joseph Pilates exercises in this tutorial I have given you some ideas that will help you fully participate in your online classes.
