Hello ,
October has arrived and brings about a turn in the weather, falling leaves, crispness in the air, late sunshine and blustery days. But with this comes the change to cozy up with soft knitwear, hot milky drinks and lots of seasonal vegetable soups (see my recipe for Lunch Break Pilates this week).
October is also a month of awareness, we have Breast Cancer Awareness with lots of people participating in Race for Life all over the world, supporting cancer research, specifically breast cancer. Last week was Back Care Awareness
week — see my Exercise Of The Week below — to help care for your back. And today is World Mental Health Day — see Your Whole Self below.
So on with this week's news:

The Absolute Beginners Course introduces you to the correct techniques and gives you the foundation exercises needed to enable you to take up regular Pilates classes when you feel ready.
At just £60 here’s what’s included:
- 6 Class Videos progressing you through the exercises
- 52-page full colour training manual
- Free online 30 minutes consultation with Jane once completed the 6 sessions
This course allows you to work at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home, and with access to the training videos on demand means you can practice and repeat as often as you want.
As last week was Back Care Awareness week I am sharing this classic stability exercise — All Fours Stability Challenge.
It works to strengthen the deep stabilising muscles that support the lower back, and then challenges it with movement from the hips and shoulders.
It's all about the core!
Work appropriately for your body and keep away from pain. Also this exercise can be done in standing using a wall to help with balance for those of you who cannot kneel.
Our mental health is important at every stage of our lives and does impact our overall health and wellbeing. So investing time in starting to create healthy habits this month will have a huge impact and benefit your wellbeing as we head into the winter.
Getting outside more and making the most of any sunshine that appears, but also enjoying the crispness in the air … it just feels so fresh, and it's amazing the difference this can make to how we feel.
Plus eating well — making full use of seasonal veggies will benefit physical and mental wellbeing. Every Monday I provide a healthy lunch recipe for my online class participants and this week it is Spicy Butternut Squash Soup. Yummy, delicious!
So let October be a month full of awareness for us all — get outside, eat well, move with care for your body, and start to create healthy habits.
Wishing you and yours a great month,
Jane xx
