Reformer classes anyone?

The Jane Thomas Pilates Newsletter
Hello ,

This week we will be finalising our Summer Timetable of group matwork classes, so keep an eye open for that as you will need to book your places. Remember — for those on the Monthly Payment Plan — any four classes over the summer are included, and if you are planning on being away for most of the summer you can even do all four of your classes in one week.

The summer is great because you get an opportunity to perhaps try a different teacher’s class, and as we get very comfortable working with one specific person, it is sometimes good to step out of our comfort zone.

Thank you to all those who have volunteered for our practice/development classes with Mary, the latest teacher to join our team. Keith will be getting in touch directly this week to offer you spaces and to let you know when these classes will take place.

Have a wonderful week everyone — look, move and feel good.

New Pilates Reformer Classes
Our Pilates Reformer classes are becoming more and more popular, with everyone who has joined the existing classes constantly saying how much they enjoy them, and how much benefit from doing their Pilates at a much higher level than matwork classes can offer. Once you've been doing Pilates Reformer classes, you will also feel the difference in your mat work, as you learn how to do your Pilates movements more precisely and with greater control.

All existing classes are currently daytime-only classes, but we have had several enquiries regarding evening Reformer classes so we are going to start those ASAP. The other thing we've had enquiries about are men-only classes.

So, on Monday 23 May there will be two free taster classes for Pilates Reformer, for anyone who hasn't already tried Reformers with us:
  • 7-8pm mixed
  • 8-9pm men only

These will be free tasters for people to experience the Reformer with the aim of putting on courses running at the same times on the following dates:
  • 6 June
  • 13 June
  • 20 June
  • 27 June
  • 4 July
RSVP as soon as possible please, as spaces are very obviously limited and will be allocated in the free taster classes and the following courses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Exercise Of The Week
This week’s exercise concentrates on our lateral muscle chain — our obliques (the muscles around our waist), our adductors (inner thighs), rhomboids and deltoids (shoulder girdle).

In the video I start from the first level and work right through to a more challenging position, so ensure you work at the appropriate level for your body.

As you practise this exercise be conscious and mindful of where you are feeling the work in the body, and focus on the areas I have explained to ensure the correct muscles are doing the correct job. Enjoy!

Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Your Whole Self
When you are giving and caring for others, don’t lose sight of the importance of your own health and wellbeing.

If you are planning and making lists of things you have to do — and this includes the things you are doing for others — add something to that list which is all about you and for your own benefit.

This isn’t being selfish — it's giving consideration to the fact that in order to be of your best to serve others you have to invest in yourself. Value yourself this week and instead of you being at the bottom of your list, put yourself at the top!

Book a Catchup

If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.

Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.

Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
